Dew Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 24 October 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of Dew, on the Free plan, trials and paid plans. Dew is a self-hosted file sharing platform provided by Trinode ApS, Kaersangervej 6, DK-8300 Odder, Denmark, CVR DK46248333 (“Trinode”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By installing or using Dew, starting a trial, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Dew

Dew is a self-hosted platform for securely sharing files and folders through links.

Dew is designed to run on infrastructure selected and controlled by the customer, including on-premise systems, private cloud environments, hybrid environments, and other Docker-capable infrastructure.

Dew does not require Trinode to host customer files or operational data.

2. Plans

Dew is available on the following plans:

  • Free: free of charge for up to 5 local users on 1 domain. It does not require a subscription, license key, or signup.
  • Pro: a paid subscription that includes everything in Free, plus additional features and limits.
  • Enterprise: a paid subscription that includes everything in Pro, plus additional features.

The features and limits of each plan are published on getdew.io/pricing and may evolve over time.

The Free plan grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Dew within the Free plan’s limits.

3. Subscription model

Pro and Enterprise are subscription products priced per user.

A user is an active user account on the Dew installation. Invitations count as users until they are used or expire. Deactivated users, service accounts, and people who receive shared links or upload files through a file request do not count.

Minimum user numbers and the billing terms offered for each plan are published on getdew.io/pricing.

A paid subscription grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the corresponding Dew plan during the active subscription period.

One Pro or Enterprise subscription covers one Dew installation. Separate independent installations require separate subscriptions.

4. Trials

Pro and Enterprise are available as 30-day trials with the full features of the plan. Trials are arranged by contacting Trinode.

When a trial ends without a paid subscription, the Dew installation returns to the Free plan, as described in section 9.

5. Orders and Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Paddle processes payments, applicable taxes, invoicing, subscription billing, and related transaction services.

Technical support for Dew is provided by Trinode in accordance with the applicable Dew plan. For billing enquiries, payment issues, cancellations or refund requests, contact Paddle through paddle.net, or email support@getdew.io for assistance.

Purchases made through Paddle are subject to Paddle’s buyer terms. Paddle processes personal data under its own privacy notices.

6. Automatic renewal

Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next renewal date.

Monthly subscriptions renew monthly.

Annual subscriptions renew annually.

You are responsible for cancelling a subscription if you do not want it to renew.

Trinode may change subscription prices. A price change applies from your next renewal after at least 30 days’ notice by email. If you do not accept the new price, you can cancel before that renewal.

7. Cancellation, refunds and termination

Cancellation and refunds are governed by the Dew Refund & Cancellation Policy published on getdew.io.

Trinode may suspend or terminate a paid subscription or trial if you fail to pay, materially breach these Terms, or breach section 15 or 16. Trinode will first give written notice and 14 days to remedy the breach, unless the breach cannot be remedied. A subscription terminated for breach is not refunded, except under the 14-day refund guarantee in the Dew Refund & Cancellation Policy or where required by applicable law.

When a subscription or trial ends for any reason, the installation continues on the Free plan as described in section 9.

8. License validation

The Free plan does not require a license key. An installation without a license key does not contact Trinode’s licensing service. If a license ends and its key stays installed, Dew keeps checking the key until an administrator removes it.

Pro and Enterprise use Keygen, a third-party licensing service, to activate the license and to validate it approximately every 24 hours. The data these requests contain is described in the Dew Privacy Policy.

License validation does not send customer files, shared content, user content, or operational logs to Trinode.

9. When a license ends or changes

When a paid license or trial expires, is cancelled, becomes invalid, cannot be validated, no longer covers the installation, or is moved to another installation, the installation continues on the Free plan or on the plan the license still covers.

Administrators are notified, and users, domains, SSO sign-in, and cloud storage continue working for a grace period of at least 14 days. Other features stop when the license no longer includes them. After the grace period, Dew turns off the features and limits the license no longer covers. How Dew applies these limits is described in the Dew documentation on getdew.io.

Dew does not delete customer files or other customer data when a license ends or changes, and Trinode does not remotely delete customer data. Customer data remains stored in the customer-controlled infrastructure. When a license covers these features again, Dew turns them back on.

10. Software updates

New versions of Dew are available to every plan, including Free.

Security fixes are released in new versions of Dew, free of charge on every plan. Fixes are not added to older versions; to get a fix, update to the latest version.

Trinode will keep releasing security fixes for as long as Dew is offered, and will give at least 12 months’ notice before it stops: by email to paying customers and on getdew.io.

The administrator of the self-hosted Dew installation is responsible for deciding when updates are installed.

Unless otherwise explicitly stated, Trinode does not automatically update customer-controlled Dew installations.

11. Customer responsibilities

Because Dew is self-hosted, the customer is responsible for operating and securing the environment in which Dew runs.

This includes, as applicable:

  • Server and operating-system security
  • Docker and container platform maintenance
  • Network security
  • Backups
  • Storage availability
  • TLS certificates
  • Firewall configuration
  • Access control
  • Identity provider configuration
  • Third-party integrations
  • Regulatory and organizational requirements applicable to the customer

Customers are responsible for ensuring that their use of Dew complies with applicable laws and third-party obligations.

Trinode does not control or guarantee the availability, performance, capacity, connectivity, backup status, or resilience of the customer’s infrastructure. Interruptions caused by customer infrastructure, third-party providers, networking, storage systems, Docker environments, identity providers, or other external dependencies are outside Trinode’s control.

12. Third-party services

Dew does not require third-party cloud services for storing or processing customer files.

Customers may optionally configure integrations with external services, including:

  • S3-compatible storage providers
  • SMTP email providers
  • SMS gateways
  • SSO and identity providers
  • Remote metadata services
  • Let’s Encrypt
  • Other compatible infrastructure services

Use of such services is governed by the customer’s agreement with the relevant provider.

The services Dew itself contacts, and the data it sends them, are described in the Dew Privacy Policy.

13. Support

The Free plan is provided free of charge and does not include individual support. Documentation and other public resources are available on getdew.io.

Pro and Enterprise subscriptions include email support.

Enterprise subscriptions of 50 users or more also include onboarding assistance, with the scope agreed in writing for each subscription.

Support contact:

support@getdew.io

Trinode answers support requests as soon as reasonably possible. Response times are not guaranteed unless agreed in writing.

When you send support material containing personal data for which you are controller, the Dew Data Processing Agreement published on getdew.io applies and forms part of these Terms.

14. Intellectual property

Dew and its associated software, branding, documentation, trademarks, and intellectual property are owned by Trinode ApS or its licensors.

Trinode grants the customer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Dew for its own business, within the limits of its plan. No ownership rights are transferred to the customer.

The customer may not sell, sublicense, rent, or provide Dew as a service to third parties, and may not reverse engineer Dew or remove its copyright notices, except where applicable law allows it.

Dew includes open-source components, which are licensed under their own terms as listed in the third-party license notices included with Dew.

Customers retain ownership of their own files, data, content, configurations, and other material stored or processed in their Dew installation.

If you send Trinode suggestions or other feedback about Dew, Trinode may use it without restriction or obligation to you.

15. Acceptable use

You may not use Dew:

  • In violation of applicable law
  • To infringe intellectual property rights
  • To distribute malicious software
  • To facilitate fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access
  • To intentionally interfere with the security or operation of Dew or related services
  • To circumvent applicable licensing restrictions

16. Export control and sanctions

You must comply with the export control and sanctions laws that apply to Dew, including those of the European Union and Denmark.

You may not use Dew, or make it available to any person, entity, country, or region subject to EU or UN sanctions, or for any purpose those laws prohibit.

17. Warranty disclaimer

Dew is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Trinode works to provide reliable and secure software but does not warrant that Dew will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for every specific environment or purpose.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.

18. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Trinode is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or business-interruption losses arising from the use of Dew.

This includes, without limitation, loss of revenue, loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, or loss arising from customer-operated infrastructure.

Trinode is not liable for loss or corruption of data. The customer is responsible for backups of its installation (section 11).

Trinode’s total liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms is limited to the fees you paid for Dew in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. For the Free plan and trials, where no fees are paid, Trinode’s total liability is limited to EUR 100.

These limitations do not apply to liability for intent or gross negligence, or where limitation is otherwise prohibited by law.

Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

19. Consumers

Paid Dew subscriptions may only be purchased by persons who are at least 18 years old or otherwise legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.

Consumers within the EU, EEA, or other jurisdictions may have statutory rights that cannot be waived by these Terms.

Where mandatory consumer law conflicts with these Terms, the mandatory consumer law prevails.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when necessary, for example due to changes in Dew, applicable law, or commercial arrangements.

Changes are published on getdew.io. For material changes, paying customers receive at least 30 days’ notice by email, and the change applies from their next renewal, unless an earlier change is required by law or to address a security issue.

Changes do not remove rights already accrued under a paid subscription period.

21. General

Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Danish law.

Any dispute shall be subject to the courts of Denmark, unless mandatory consumer protection rules require otherwise.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without Trinode’s prior written consent. Trinode may assign these Terms to an affiliate or to a successor in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its business or assets, with notice by email to paying customers.

Force majeure

Neither party is liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations, other than payment obligations, caused by events beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, government action, labour disputes, or failures of networks, utilities, or third-party providers. If such an event lasts more than 60 days, either party may terminate the affected subscription by written notice.

Entire agreement

These Terms, the Dew Refund & Cancellation Policy and the Dew Data Processing Agreement form the entire agreement between you and Trinode about Dew, and replace any prior agreements on the same subject. Terms in a purchase order or other customer document do not apply. Paddle’s buyer terms govern the purchase transaction.

If these documents conflict, the Dew Data Processing Agreement prevails on data protection, and otherwise these Terms prevail, unless a written agreement signed by both parties says otherwise.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the other provisions remain in effect, and the provision is replaced by a valid provision that comes closest to its original purpose.
